Christmas 2020 and it’s the tree shot which must mean I’m sitting down, pretty rare for anyone who knows me!
No-one could have prepared for this year, and what a challenge, for some personally, some business and for some poor souls, both.
“None of us will ever forget this year”, I gravely told my youngest on our odyssey driving the streets for toilet roll.
Honestly, I feel it’s been the best of times and worst of times. I’m lucky, touch wood, so far, loved ones and friends are safe and well.
For V&B some doors closed and others opened. Leaving a 25 year career behind just before lockdown might have seemed nuts, but it gave me the time and freedom I needed to concentrate and do the best job I could, and amazingly it still doesn’t feel like “work”.
A rather ambitious calendar of fairs was wiped-out but online sales made up the loss and came to our rescue.
Next year we will be back out there but will cherry-pick probably #rhshampton #burghleyhorsetrials and #spiritofchristmas
Is there anywhere you would like to see us ?? We love meeting people and showing off what we do.
We finally took the leap and left the garage and lock-ups behind and moved in to our lovely new (old) home, it feels so exciting to “go to work” albeit adding the serious business of bills to pay.
Our valiant stockists and shops have had the toughest time, I can only marvel at their commitment, positivity and courage. Support your little independents, they add colour, creativity and personality to your streets.
I can truly say our customers are a lovely lot, from chats on the phone, emails and messages you are the best, it means such a lot. We recognise names and addresses of the regulars ( you know who you are! ) and want to thank all of you for supporting us through what could have been a disastrous year for this little company.
